Globally renowned artificial intelligence scientist Steven Hoi Chu-hong has reportedly joined Alibaba (9988) as group vice president, according to mainland media Jiemian.

Hoi will take charge of Alibaba’s multimodal AI basic model for personal user business and agents-related basic research and application solutions, people familiar with the matter said.

Meanwhile, the Chinese tech giant is building a top-tier AI algorithm research and engineering team for its AI-to-consumer business, Jiemian reported.
