Cathay Pacific Airways (0293) is expanding its management team to include a new executive overseeing its China business, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News yesterday.

Arnold Cheng has been appointed as director for the mainland portfolio in a newly created role as the importance of mainland business elevated under chief executive Ronald Lam.

Cheng is returning to Cathay after several years in various China-related roles for parent shareholder John Swire & Sons.

Besides, Vivian Lo is appointed director of customer lifestyle, succeeding Paul Smitton, who is leaving Cathay.
